The Santo Tomás de Castilla Free Trade and Industry Zone (ZOLIC) once again obtained BASC recertification for the year 2026, an achievement that confirms sustained compliance with international standards on safety, control and best practices in the logistics and foreign trade chain.

This recertification is the result of a comprehensive process led by the General Management, the Deputy General Manager and those responsible for each institutional process, who had to demonstrate to international auditors the effective compliance with the parameters, standards and specifications required by BASC (Business Alliance for Secure Commerce) certification.

During the audit, the control systems, risk management, traceability of operations, security of people, information and facilities, as well as the articulation between areas to ensure safe, agile and reliable trade were rigorously evaluated. Each process owner, together with their work teams, played a key role in the evidence of practices aligned with international standards.

For ZOLIC, the BASC 2026 recertification represents a clear signal to its users, strategic allies and the international community: Guatemala has a free zone that operates under principles of integrity, safety and continuous improvement.

“Having BASC certification again allows us to present ourselves to the world as a Free Trade Zone in Guatemala that meets international security standards. This strengthens the confidence of the markets, our users and commercial partners that operate from ZOLIC, and reaffirms the commitment of the Board of Directors and Management to continuous improvement, security and transparency,” said Ricardo Segura, General Manager of ZOLIC.

From the operational management point of view, the recertification process also reflected a transversal work within the institution, in which each area assumed specific responsibilities to comply with the requirements established by BASC.

“This recertification is the result of joint work, led by each process owner and their teams. It is an example of how internal coordination and institutional commitment make it possible to sustain international standards over time, strengthening traceability, agility and safe trade,” said Karla Villalta, assistant manager of ZOLIC.

With the BASC 2026 recertification, ZOLIC reaffirms its commitment to a modern operation, aligned with the demands of world trade and oriented to offer its users a safe, efficient and competitive environment.
